Are you a writer who’s dreamed of having your work performed for the Bahamian public? Written a play, or thinking of writing one? We’re looking for original Bahamian works to produce.

A word of warning: we do have a blast! While we aren’t prejudiced against comedies, we’re really interested in pieces that make audiences think as well as respond. We’re also more interested in full-length plays than we are in skits, sketches or one-act plays.

Here’s our promise: We’ll read your work, and give you feedback. If we like it, and it meets our needs, we’ll undertake to produce it. If we like it but don’t think it’s ready for the stage as is, we may workshop it with you, and then we may produce it. All writers whose plays we produce will be paid royalties at the same rate as published works.

Here are some tips that you can use to get us to give your work a second look:

  • Length: If I convert my play to a standard 12-point font like Courier, and if I centre the characters’ names, my play is 80 pages or longer (the running length of plays is usually calculated as a minute per page)

  • Content: My play looks at the familiar from a fresh perspective, or it takes really memorable characters and puts them in a difficult position, and my use of dialect isn’t just a comic effect.

  • Other: I’m a Bahamian, I live in The Bahamas, my play is about Bahamians or The Bahamas, or it puts a Bahamian spin on my subject.
